Cycle Electric’s rectifying regulators provide a smoother charge to the battery than shunt-style regs. This translates to longer battery and stator life and less stress placed upon the sensitive electronics that control your late-model motorcycle. Unlike shunt-style regulators that dump current to the ground to control voltage on Harley-Davidson alternators, Cycle Electric rectifying regulators block current to control the voltage.

This design reduces stator current (and heat!) resulting in less strain on the electrical components—and the motor, so you’ll free up a little power, too. This reg is specifically designed as a replacement for OEM P/N 74519-88. 

This CE-320L regulator is specifically designed for 1989-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail models that have a battery mounted in the oil tank.  The “L” (low voltage) package is equipped with a low-voltage regulator specially tuned for the small battery mounted in a horseshoe oil tank—heavy charging plus hot oil plus little air-flow is a perfect combination of factors that can boil off your battery’s electrolyte.
